This museum quality compass was given to August Karl von Muggenthaler by U.S. Admiral Oscar C. Badger. The YUKIKAZE was built in 1940 and served in the battles of Java Sea, Kula Gulf, Santa Cruz, Bismarck Sea, Guadalcanal, Marianas and Ten Go. Her name in English means "Snow Wind." She was one of only 17 out of 174 Japanese destroyers to survive the war. Snow Wind was realistically considered unsinkable by her crews. She was eventually handed over to Nationalist China. 2,000 tons, 364x35x11, 6-5", 8-21" (24") tt multiple flack, 36kts.
