I have a beer glass with etching on one side that say ` Offizier = Schiessverein’ with 1909 under it. The other side has a crown with a plus sign above it. Below the crown is an R in script 2” high with what looks a J and an I as secondary overlaid letters. Below them is the number 165. The glass is 11” high and is intended to hold half a liter. I would like to learn more about the glass. Schiessverein means shooting club. I guess that the glass probably relates to a Swiss shooting club. Is that the case? If so, which one? What is the significance of the 1909? The date of the glass, the date of the shooting club? What is the significance of 165? The shooting club, the club member’s number?
