I love this necklace! I found it at an estate sale -- it was originally meant for me to reuse in a piece of artwork. However, it looked really nice, and so I spent quite a bit of time researching it. I believe it is a Heinrich Hoffman reverse intaglio from the early 1930s. It has his butterfly signature. The picture is of Venus, Cupid and the two doves on smoky quartz.
