New York Central & Hudson River RR railroad lantern made by the Star Headlight & Lantern Co., in Rochester, NY around 1890. This is one of the very earliest Star No. 39 models and is beautifully marked N.Y.C. & H.R.R.R. in boldly embossed, large letters. The extended base globe is signal green and embossed NYC&HRR. Early Star models resemble similar lanterns made by the Steam Gauge & Lantern Co.
