    I inherited this 10 1/4 inch plate from my great aunt years ago and only looked it up on the internet today. The gold hallmark is "Schwarzenhammer, Bavaria, Germany, 17", and according to one reliable source, it was only used between 1923 and 1945.

    I have come across a few similar plates -- mostly in smaller sizes -- on the internet, but I haven't seen any others with the black paint yet. They tend to have a mostly white background, so I thought I'd post what appears to be a slightly unusual plate here.
