I acquired this very old Victorian era reverse painting on glass with tin foil decor of a cross. I took the back off, which is wood signed in pencil “Presented to Maggie Dexter by her loving aunt CP Dexter”, and found a newspaper lining it from 1879, which dates the painting. I think came from Philadelphia or Nova Scotia based on the information and articles in the newspaper lining. The other side of the wood says Moldinos Owners Risk and I have no idea what that means or when that was added.
I have formed a Non Profit for survivors of crime www.abuserecovery.us and would like to sell it locally in Central Florida to help us raise seed money-do you have any idea what this is worth? Please see photos attached.
I did some research and have sent many emails regarding this, and have discovered it is highly collectible and worth $200-$800. Any thoughts or knowledge of this one or how I could find a reputable dealer to sell it or the value?
