This double deck of Thomas De La Rue cards, one set is red(almost burgandy) and the õther green. has been passed down in the family.
The back of the cards bear the wording
"Jules Rimet Cup. England. 1996. World Championship."
These words form a circle around a football which also represents the world(with the continents marked out). A trophy in the form of an angel is above a coat of arms which has 3 lions one above the other. There is only one joker in each pack.
The Ace of spades have the side silhouette profile of a man with the company name stated "Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited, London". The spade is ornately decorated with a crown, three leaf clovers, thistles and flowers.
The case is plastic, pale green and bears the following lines below the British Coat of Arms:
"By appontment to Her Majesty the Queen Suppliers of playing cards"
"Thomas De La Rue &Company Limited"
Now I would be really greatful if anyone was able to give me any information they may have about this set and possibly any insight of its worth? I cant seem to find anything on the net. Thank you all in advance for your help!
