It's a Melodeon. Basically the same as a pump organ, but it predates the later style pump organs (which usually had an elaborate upper section with candle holders, mirror, etc). It could easily be from the early 1870's. The decorative holes on the front are is where the air/sound exits. You should be able to find out the brand by closing the front, and opening the rear of the top section. There should be a piece of paper glued to the inside somewhere that will tell you when it was patented and the brand. The stool is most likely not original, and by the looks of the picture, the hardware for pumping air into the bellows is missing.
Thanks so much!!! The chair was blocking the view of the hardware for pumping air. I just attached another photo. The stool has some weird eagle head for feet. Attached another photo of that too. By the way, it does not open. I need to pull it out and look at the back and see if any opening. Thanks so much for the info.
There should be some way to remove the whole top panel. Although if it doesn't move, I wouldn't force it.
Thank you!!!!
