I have an old unique and apparently very rare snow sled that has steel tube runners and a SPRING incorporated 1/3 of the way down each runner from the front for fast and easy steering!!! It is in 100% working condition. Needs no work to be used. What is it? LOL
1800's, early 1900's I have no Idea! I had one collector of Flyers who seen one of these 50 years ago but knows nothing about it. He seemed to think it was a short lived Canadian Company. He estimated the price anywhere from $200 to $350.
I have put hours in on Google trying to find this sled and come up with nothing!
The Swiss had bob sleds in the 1880's w/steel tube runners. I found an old picture of four of the first ever swiss Bob sledders on a sled with 2 separated tube runners on each side with no talk about the sled..
A spring in each runner and it turns easily..17 to 20 degrees either way! Entire frame is tube steel. Handle bar is welded to. The runners are welded to the sitting main frame and have full round radius's each end. Screws that run through the square nuts hold the front assy together and have been cut off at the nut surface and the the screws welded to the old square nuts. No name or identifying marks are on the sled. Top and bottom were dark blue but time has worn any decals off.
