I dug this up whilst excavating in the garden of house we let out. I've tried to find out what its use was but have not found another quite like it.
Does anyone know what it is? How old it is? what it would be used for?
I've not cleaned it thoroughly - is there a best method to do so?
It measures just over 1 foot across, the section where the handle passes through is also cast, and it weighs 1.9kg (4.25 lb).

Any information or thoughts would be apreciated - look forward to some response!
