Hi there,
I am just interested in the history of this teddy if anyone knows when he was made (or close to). He is a golden furry teddy with what looks like a straw stuffing, he has a plastic moulded mouth and nose with Reflective eyes. He stands approx 30cms. His feet have what appear to be card or thin wood in the bottoms so he can stand up. He is a jointed teddy. As far as i know, He was given to my Mother when she was little (she was born 1945) from her uncle. It was his childhood toy and i think he was born early 1900's? I know he was made in japan as he still has a tiny label stitched to his back. Could be something that was won at a carnival or fair?

Hi Your teddy bear dates more into 1950's since early bears did not have vinyl noses prior they had sewn black thread noses . It could have been a carnival bear but could have been store bought . Not always easy to say maker during this era of bears as they start to look more alike to prior very early bears . I would say it was a gift to your Mom and was new for her at time , no older than than that . Very nice to have something that was your Mom's from her childhood , that makes him priceless !!! :-) Welcome to CW and glad to have you here .
thankyou for the information it's very helpful, he was my faviourite bear at one stage but i was never allowed to play with him as he was a little oldie so i just admired him on a shelf!! :) , great to have and idea just of his age if anything! xo
