I bought this fantastic out-of-print game a few years back on eBay, and its great! (If you can find people willing to play it with you....)
Each person gets a railroad and you have to run freight back and forth along your network (which you can build by acquiring other roads). This is like Monopoly meets Risk on steriod for railroad history junkies. As usual, I think the Santa Fe (now BNSF Transcon) has the structural advantage, but I'm sure those who've won with Denver and Rio Grande Western, UP, SP or New York Central (or whatever) would disagree.
Is there anyone out there who still plays this?

Yes. I've played it twice this year, including last Saturday, and I'm planning on playing it this Saturday as well. I had no idea it was still this popular, (or ever this popular in all honesty), until I searched the game title on the internet. I can't believe how much a used Rail Baron game sells for now!
Probably one of the best board games of all time. Started teach our sons to play when they were about 3. They are grown now and still love it today! In fact, our older son has been searching for one and has had no luck so borrowed ours to take with him while underway on Naval patrol! Now that's saying something for a game!
