In several of my posts I have talked about my grandfather's cabin being the place where I have "picked" a lot of my items from. This is one of the garages he had on his property. He had a second one like it too. Both were packed with over 50 years of his life. He built both of them by hand. The B is for his last name. This is where I found this railroad sign. I don't know how old it is, my guess is at least forty years old. I also do not know how he came to acquire it lol. You can see how big it is compared to the shovel. I took it home to give to my father for his train room that he wanted to build. It has yet to happen and it has sat in his own garage for the last four years.

This is a cool sign! Have you kept it the way it is or are you going to restore it? I would love to find out more information about it! If you can email me back with any info, that would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

There is no real restoration needed, it's just dirty. The paint and reflectivity are still intact, no cracking or chipping. I will prolly wash it off when it's not so cold.

Cool sign. I recently aquired a pair of rr crossing stantions with the flashing lights, bells (no gates, left those there). The units are in working condition. My understanding is there have since been several close calls at that intersection. Always look both ways before you cross!

great sign. my father worked on the railroad in chicago for 30 years. from the late 40sto the early 70s. i would like to buy your sign, if it is for sale. if we can agree on a price. i am not a dealer , just a collector of railroad items because of my fathers occupation. thank you for posting the sign, as it brought back memories.

Thank you for your interest but it is not for sale. As I said above it is for my father. His father and many generations before that worked on the railroad, my father worked at the Harvey House as a young boy in California.
