About Antique Sterling Silver Bowls

Because of sterling's association with fine living, many sterling bowls had very specific uses, from ice cream bowls to soup bowls to bowls designed to be filled with ice to cool drinking glasses. Punch bowls (often found in diamond, square, and other geometric shapes) are a staple of sterling silver collections, as are cream and sugar bowls. Serving tureens and footed serving bowls are also common, but be sure to check for age, as these Georgian designs are still manufactured today.
