It is about 8 inches long, on the handle is hand etched; BIDA•1774.Would really appreciate some input on this item that I know absolutely nothing about.

It looks like someone hand hammered it and put name of the person they were giving it to on it ? Is it a tin material ?
I just bought a similar mystery ladle at a local antique store - it also says "Bida" on it - but no year - I wanted to include a photo - but cannot here.
