I recently acquired this telescope. It is marked "Lloyds Signal Station, Piazza Fosse, Malta, 20". In addition, the manufacturer's information on the scope reads, "R & J Beck Ltd., Cornhill, London, 142A." The tripod stands about 50" tall excluding the brass shaft in which the scope is attached. The scope is about 52" long, but adjusts at the end for magnification. All the metal is made of brass including the caps at the base of each leg. According to my research, this instrument may have been used by a Lloyd's of London agent for surveying purposes. I have been told by the previous owner that it is World War II era, but I cannot confirm that. If anyone can provide additional information, I would be grateful.
