A very early 31"x13" sand finish wooden sign most likely used in Boston as a sidewalk sign. The reverse side advertises "Overnight Rooms and A
Combination Breakfast." This type of sign was typically used through the 1880s-1890s until porcelain Bell signs were introduced.
