Sometimes back in the day a lady would have her two rings, the engagement diamond ring along with the wedding ring, attached together. I'm assuming they did this so when worn they were not constantly adjusting the two rings to keep them orderly and even/straight. Perhaps this is still done today. This two ring set was done in that fashion. From my perspective, I personally see drawbacks having it either way. Of the some 70+ sets like this that I have, this is one of the larger "main diamonds". It's roughly 15/100 of a carat and the ring is a beautiful "two toned" yellow & white gold.
