    Stamped "EGYPT' and "MADE IN EGYPT" (can make it out, but it's at different depths)
    Was my grandmother's, we figure she got it overseas early sixties
    Might be hand crafted
    Looks like pewter over brass. Worn and lots of green stuff
    Any idea? It has always intrigued me.

      Hi,
      I see an ashtray :) for indoor outdoor use. I would say the time period is about right. Most likely made for export as it says " Made In India" to comply with laws.
      I could be wrong as they tended to be more ornate.
