Table Lamp 1940's floral design signed S.S.. Seeking info. on signature, who sold this, & worth?

Probably purchased in NYC. Lamp to base 32", painted greenish background, red rose floral and green leaves, gold trim all around. Probably porcelain, this has been in family for years, it's a very heavy lamp. Signature S.S. The lamp has 2 sections and a gold-tone base.
