This is an old Western Electric System sign. It measures 16x 20 and has a logo that I have never seen before. After doing some research on this sign, I think it was a company not associated with the Bell System's, "Western Electric", but a stand alone co. in Western Iowa and Eastern Dakota's. Since the sign does says "Long Distance" and not Local and Long Distance I think it's from the 1880's.
Now this is cool!!!! I recently picked this picture up at a flea mkt. and if you look at the left hand side of the building you'll see the sign hanging on the wall. What are the odds of finding a picture to go with a one of a kind sign. When I saw the picture I was like a kid in a candy store, getting my first bite of chocolate. To say I was on a excited would be an extreme understatement to say the least. Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Happy Huntting!!!!!
