This type of leather jacket was introduced in 1937/38 for wear by u boat crews, but was also worn by other personnel. This jacket was very popular with officers as well, who sometimes customized their jacket by adding officer insignia. This particular jacket was manufactured by the company of Gustav Nitsch of Vienna.
