Very nice,,I have had bugs and buggys around most of my life. Amazing machines.
In 1961 bought my first bug when I was stationed in Germany and it was a used 1949 split window, no gas gauge, manifold heater, 30 hp engine. I carried a stick
with me to check the fuel level. I wish I had it now. In 1966 I bought a new VW bug until i traded it in for a 1969 "automatic stick shift". I had several more over the years. I have a 2005 VW Bug Diesel that gets 42 MPG.
When I was 17 and my girlfriend was 16 we drove her VW to Florida on 18 dollars of gas. I believe it was a 63 VW. That was back in 1973.
I used to have a '66, or was it a '67? Anywho it was 68" high and could go 200 miles on 8 gallons of gas. Back in '73, the 1600cc motor weighed 257lbs. I also had 12 friends who ran 1650' w/ 16lbs of sand on their backs in 90 degree weather, 24/7.
