1976 $2 Bill kept in a cellophane envelope so its crisp, clean and unfolded. I went to the post office on its first day of issue after many years of not printing a $2 bill. Had a stamp placed on the front and cancelled. Doubt that there is but a handful of these if anymore at all. Very very very rare.

If they are as rare as you say....I think I know where several are. lol I use to collect them and my step-father would tease me that I was going to put my grandchildren through college with them because I had so many. Still have them somewhere tucked away (and no grandchildren-yet)!
Put a picture out there of what you have, Bonnie. I showed you mine.
AR, post an image, plz. Show the cancelled issue date of April 13, 1976.
I go on Ebay and see these all the time. I've even received some from banks, although most of those have the postage stamp ripped off. The cancellation is still there though. One is even a star note, although in poor condition.
$2 bills aren't rare. Even "first-day" issue ones.
And don't get ornery if I don't post a pic.
I get $2 bills from the bank a couple times a year, to go with birthday and Christmas gifts for nieces & nephews. It's a tradition my father started, and I continued when he passed away. The bank once gave me some from 1976, I passed them along to the kids. I would rather see $2 bills in circulation than sitting collecting dust but that's just me.
I, too, have a few of these. I'm surprised that the Post Office would date stamp something like money! It may fall into the line of defacing. Good for you to have thought of it though.
Everyone seems to be having so much fun with the $2 bill thread. Have at it folks....
My aunt gave me a couple of these $2 bills stamped at my local post office in Hingham, Ma. when first issued back in 1976. Now I just have to find them. ha ha. Could they be worth anything?
