I picked this little thermometer up at a friend's store. What caught my eye is that the backside says St. Labre Indian School. Ashland Montana. 7"x3" plastic. Marked made in USA. Just found it amusing.

WOW -- I remember these -- there were one or two of them around my folks' house when I was growing up! (ca. 1970's) IIRC, they would have been "free gifts" my Mom (probably?) received in return for a "donation" made to the school, which may or may not have been marketed as a "product" of said school made by its students. (apparently they do blankets as premiums now, according to their website?) I also wanna recall that the fish bones motif was supposed to represent something 'christian' and 'indian' at the same time...one can now only wonder how horribly politically incorrect those advertisements/"donation requests" might have actually been, if viewed with today's eyes...? <lol>
