Does anybody have an idea what this is? It weighs roughly 30lb. Its made out of firebrick pottery and covered with galvanized metal. The wholes that are seen in the bottom are about 4in. off the bottom floor of the bucket. Then is has a sliding door on the bottom that opens up to let air in. The person we bought it from said that they thought it was an old smudge pot. Does anybody know the history of these??

It was used to heat copper soldering irons. I hope this helps. However, it can be used to burn coal or wood in and it keeps bugs away too...
