Sign is a single plank. braced in the back by iron straps. Measures about 18" by 6ft 1 inch thick. It's hanging in our barn!!!
Robert Burlen started the company around 1880 in Boston went out of biz in the 70's then it was in Hingham Mass.
Bookbinding went the way of the buggy whip!!! It was a real craft!!! Mostly a Lost Art now.

Though it is obviously much fancier and indeed an actual "sign", it nonetheless reminds me of this 'big wood plank with lettering' that lives in the rafters over my bench at work...OH how I wish I had a "barn" except that if I did, I'd no doubt have it absolutely stuffed full of even more crap than I already own now, too...? <LOL>
