This couple of Chinese gentlemen, sitting in horseshoe chairs, are carved from some sort of wood, with rests of paint. They are believed to be from the 18th century and are 20 cm high. Maybe you know more about them ?

Hopefully Waki comes back and explains..think he said "good luck"? I'm curious what the left figure is holding..maybe a fan? Searching reveals a bunch of similar and in many variations. And of course they all seem to claim to be someone different. So maybe Waki can at least break it down for us...clothing looks very fancy
