I bought this bronze (?) figurine online in 2007. It was an estate sale item and the seller didn't know anything about it, although he believed it to be bronze and listed it as such. Although the seller was in the USA, these are definitely European badgers (Meles meles) rather than the American variety (Taxidea taxus).
The composition shows a sow badger and her three cubs. The detail is fairly fine, with dimensions approx. 4" long, 3" wide and 2.5" high. The mother badger, who is poised protectively above her little ones, is particularly naturalistic: the figurine correctly captures the upturned curve at the end of her snout, which so many sculptures fail to do.
The figurine is heavy for its size, is definitely made of metal and could indeed be bronze. (It doesn't react to a neodymium magnet.) There are no maker marks visible on it anywhere, but the bottom is covered with protective green baize so it's possible there's something underneath that.
I lived in the United Kingdom for a while and always loved badger-watching, so this was a natural purchase for me. Unfortunately I have no idea who made this or where it may have come from. I welcome any ideas and comments!

It's wonderful!! I does certainly appear to be bronze as I detect small areas of verdigris. I love it!!
