This autographed postcard is one of the first HOFer autographs that I acquired in the late 1970s.
In those days, before athlete autographs became a "business", I was able to write players (include 3X5s and an SASE) and MOST would respond to autograph requests.
Averill played 13 seasons in centerfield-- most for the Cleveland Indians. He had a career .318 batting average.
