I believe what you have is a 1937 Gruen Curvex Ristside. The model is a Admiral.
I have this watch in my collection. You can see this watch on my web page http://bobswatches.webnode.com/ The watch is valued between 1500.00 to 2000.00 dollars.

Wow, good thing I put it up here. I have a ton of differnt watches from a box that was found of my grandfathers thing. It was given to me labled "junk"
Mine does not have a leather band. It has a metel/gold band.Did they make them that way or with the leather band. And how much do you think they were back in 1937? Just wondering how much my grandfather would have payed for something like this. I will have to get it cleaned up and stored properly!!!
I think the watch was sold with a metal bracelet, It sold for 50.00 dollars back then. Quite a bit of money back in the 30's. follow this link to see a vintage ad for the watch. http://www.boomertime.com/solditems/T3295/T3295.htm The watch at this link is a ristside but a different model.
