Got this tiny little carving on eBay; you can scratch this jade with your fingernail. Talc or chalk carved to imitate white hetian jade, carved small to suggest rarity. Nicely done carving but would of prefered a real stone. Going to leave it in the box because I am fearful it might melt if exposed to the light.

This is probably a type of soapstone - I have some pink soapstone from New Mexico that is soft like that. The very soft stuff has a high talc content, funny you should mention talc.
