I have a selection of these J.G. Schelter & Giesecke illuminated two colour drop caps, circa 1820. I used them on a farely regular basis, in my letterpress printing business.
They are still in good condition, having been brushed out with type wash after every use.
Also another of my favourite items, is a hard bound Ludlow type specimen book circa 1920's. I sold my business a short while ago, but these are among a few items I kept which I think may have some historic interest. I especially like the printed letter that Ludlow put in the book apparently from one of their customers. (see attached). Some day I may have a 'clear out' and try to find out their worth, but for the time being they remain in my collection.

That Book is the second Edition of the First Ludlow Specimen Book which showed a complete range of what was available by them, the first Edition has patterned Endsheets. That Letter is a sample Letter created by Ludlow to show of their Font Underwood which is a copy of the Typewriter font of that period. I cast Ludlow and have this set of Mats and others. That Book ranges in value from 125 -475 US.
