I found this sign at a local antique mall, the guy's booth had some advertising signs, and this one caught my eye, it was hanging right by a shelf. My heart raced, at first site, I thought it was real. Then I looked at the price tag, $38 bucks. I thought from the price, it may be a reproduction, but from the rust, the old paint enamel, and the the fact it was made from steel and not aluminum (like current repro signs) I thought even if it wasn't real, I thought it was pretty realistic looking and would look good over my coke trays. Usually, a have a pretty kean eye for antiques, and this jumped out to me. But thanks to ray, I now know this is real, I more then 10X my money. It is my new favorite sign in my small sign collection, (coke sign, coke thermometer, red jacket well sign) This encourages me to take risk and buy more coke signs! The funny thing is, the guy had more coke and other advertising signs with price tags with high dollars. I wonder why he had this one at just 38 dollars if he possibly knew what he had.

Thank you very much ray! I've been very iffy on this sign, and it was also my first coke sign. I'm very happy to know that there's someone who thinks the same thing as me.

Thanks, but I'd rather keep it :), it was a pretty good find, wouldn't you say? I'm suprised you ask me to donate it! I probably would if I had more coke stuff.

In respect to your tacker sign, the originals I have had are the larger 6x23 size. Most of these signs, have a manufacturer name along the bottom. This sign should say Made in USA, along with the manufacturer verbiage. (although there always are variations). With the number of repro signs out there now. I understand that some people have actually purchased the dies from the old defunct companies to make new signs. (I am not sure if that applies to specifically to coke signs). To be honest with you I am afraid of almost all metal signs nowdays, because of the ease with which things can be aged, and the ability to manufacture things very cheaply in China. I can't tell you your sign is fake, but I wouldn't want to tell you it is original because of the previous reasons. It sure does look manufactured well and is a very accurate representation of the real one (if it isn't). Don't worry, keep it and enjoy it, until you get the chance to actually physically compare it to others in the future.

why was "post this pal" threatning to sue me? What did I do? I'm really confused, I got this comment from an email, but collectorsweekly took it down. What happened?

One way I usually judge old signs are the colors on the back. This color looks like olive drab that was used a lot.The repop signs don't go through the trouble to copy the back as much and there are several pepsi signs that there's no way they can copy. These fools out in Indiana that are making the repops tried a 58 pepsi thermometer and put a red back on it. Guess I shouldn't call them fools, they are screwing the collectors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars every year! I'd be willing to bet yours is an "ORIGINAL"
