I bought this set a couple years ago in North Carolina as an anniversary gift.. They person I bought it from said it was her husband's grandmothers and they brought it up from South Carolina when she passed away. I have five pieces: The four half-post head board and foot board, originally a double, the vanity and bench (may not match, not pictured) and the chest of drawers. All pieces are stained and painted to look like it has burled wood inlay. Everything is solid wood with dovetailed drawers. The pulls are plastic, but I don't believe they are Bakalite. They are round and very Sheraton in style. There aren't really any maker'm marks or anything except job number stamps on the back. the back of the mirror has a stamp that says "Carolina Mirror Corp>Dec 1 01948> North Wilksboro, NC" That company was started in the 1930's and is still in business, in the 50's the company was shipping mirrors all over the country. In all my searching and researching, I have never saw a set like this. I thought that odd because I am pretty sure its mass produced. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a similar set or really anything like it. I believe it is a 50's set. Thanks!
