I found this mechanical Gruen watch at a Salvation Army store for twenty dollars or so. It has a 17 jewel movement with a beautiful gold speckled maroon face.
On the back of the casing the characters A1243DR84B are engraved; I haven't been able to find anything relating to this, it might have been servicing notes by a watchmaker?
Would love to date and price this, the size of the band is too short to wear myself. Any info on when this might have been made, I am hoping someone might recognize the style.

Thanks AR8Jason, that maroon made me think the same era, too. There are number scratchings as well, the numbers above seem to be part of the case manufacturers intent.
