English hallmarks for London. The maker is Chawner & Co (George William Adams) 1840..1882 (registered Nov 1840). The year letter is troubling me though. I think it is "L" for 1846. It just seems inverted.

The crest on the other side has a baronet's crown, I think.
thanks, from what ive gathered it is what you have noted. the "L" mark i believe is the year mark, ive got it closely pegged to 1860's. it that GA, the maker. Adams is what ive found but i cannot get this validated. and ive certainly never seen this one anywhere else.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFO VETRAIO50. I THINK I MUST HAVE BEEN IN THE PROCESS OF TYPING / POSTING AS YOU WERE. VERY HELPFUL. AND YES THE 'L" MARK YOU ARE RIGHT, 1864. SPOT ON! THANKS
1846. CORRECTION.
*VETRAIO50* MANY THANKS FOR THE DETECTIVE WORK, GREAT STUFF!
