I bought this in 2001 for my Grandma, since then she has passed away. I was looking for some information on this doll. The paperwork from the store I bought it list it has chalkware, but I have not found any other doll like this. Any information would be helpful.
I have tried donating to the Bonniebrook Museum and the Toy Museum in Kansas City, the first don't return e-mails, the second is inventorying their collection, therfore not accepting any other toys.
Is there any other organizations that would want this?

Yes they made Chalkware Kewpies during the depression material were hard to find and these could be made less expensive, I can not read your label ? Does it say Rosie O'Neill or cameo ??? A museum would not want it as they are so common to find that does not mean a collector would not love her . At a museum she would sit on a shelf in basement for her entire life they have so many dolls donated that many never get unpacked and some are sold . I worked at one so I have seen the real behind scenes . She is so sweet . I love her . Tell me what Label says beside Kewpie ok

Here are some of the markings for a Kewpie . Bisque ones which yours is not are marked different but yours should fall into one of these
dolls may have a number of markings, some over the heart, including: "Cameo Doll Co., by artist Rosie O'Neill", "Kewpie/Reg. U.S./Pat. Off.", "Kewpie/Design Pat. No. 43680 Reg. U.S./Pat. Off.", or "Kewpie/Des. & Copyright by Rosie O'Neill". Later Cameo dolls were often marked Cameo on the head, back or feet and, following 1971, S71.
AR8 since Kewpies are so abundant I do believe the poster would do well to sell it to a Kewpie collector to enjoy . Museums want rare . This is a beatiful probably all original dressed doll . And you could sell her for a nice price to a great home . Just my 2 cents worth :-) It will be better taken care of by a collector to be passed down to next generations . But you can try I hate to see it in a storage room .

The label reads "Kewpie/Des. & Copyright by Rosie O'Neill" it is 12.5 inches. I do not want to see it packed away in a box. I was hoping they would display it with a little tag saying it was donated by my grandma.

AR8 first off it has nothing to do with your friend helping poster and No I did not want to buy it . I have no interest in kewpies and am offended you would imply that . Since you are an expert in all fields from A-z you just take over dolls too . My leaving has to do with my post on my mannequins I just listed . You have nothing to do with it . However I am not a novice on dolls and museums so please don't imply my answer was not accurate . I am glad your frind can help her . Do you give info to posters because you want to buy it ? why would you think I would . That was a unkind remark
I am sorry Astro this is on your page . You can decide to do what you want and I hope your Doll gets a good place to live . No one is an expert in all fields my expertise is well documented in dolls only not other items and that includes Kewpies that were all not naked and many had crepe paper clothes and real clothes . Thank you, For your nice comment I do appreciated, but it wouldn't be the same with out Manikin She is very good in her knowledge of mannequins and dolls, do not get me wrong if you notice she does ask a lot of question before answering. She is very helpful in other categories as a I am sure she spent time in searching for links just like everyone who like to help. I hope she stays :(
I really didn't want anyone to be offended. I was just trying to do right by giving my Grandma's doll so others could enjoy at a museum. My Grandma would talk about a Kewpie doll she won at a carnival. They went over to her great aunt's house after the carnival. She layed it on the bed and when she came back it was broken. She found out when she was older that her dad had some kind of superstition with chalk and that he probably broke it.
She was so happy when I gave it to her, so I just wanted to let others get some enjoyment. Like I said before I do not want it packed away in some box, that defeats the purpose. I guess if I decided to sell it at least someone will get some enjoyment out of it. I'll need to think about that.

Astro I again apologize that some of this spilled onto your post . We love to help here and this had nothing to do with your wonderful little doll . It is priceless and your story makes her more special and I know you want to do what is best for her . We do try to help as much as we can . This was a issue with the higher ups not us or you :-) Hoping she finds a nice home whatever you decide to donate or sell . As AR8 stated collectors do have tours and show their collections while under their control . A Kewpie collector would do that and doll collectors go out of their way to find history on their dolls and keep records so future generations will know the story and the child that had the doll :-)
