      Just guessing here Clyde. It looks like a ceremonial sword for a faternal/religious organization. The steel of the blade looks too poor quality to be functional as a cutting or stabbing impliment. I don't recognize the symbols on the guard or quillian, may be European in origin.

      Christopher Columbus is on the handle. It is a Knights of Columbus ceremonial Sword. K of C is a Catholic fraternal organization!
