VINTAGE OLD FOLK ART EASTERN EUROPEAN DOLLS HORSE HAIR, WOOD, AND CLOTH

This pair of Vintage folk art dolls stands approx 7 1/2" tall. The female figure holding a basket. Male figure is holding a large wooden axe.
These are of what I've been told, were made of horse hair. The daughter of a Eastern European mother was holding an estate sale.
She told me that they were in their house for over 50 years, as she would get into trouble if she played with them.

The material is sun faded in the back.

If anyone has any idea of the country, please let me know. I'm sure the material design may give a clue.

    Thank you.

They sure appear to be some sort of hair and their shoes a woven hair also . I will need to ponder this one . They maybe from your area of the world . A Tribal doll made for tourist ?

oh my thought vetraio50 posted these as he is in Au. No they are not native to Ohio . But I am thinking they were a tribal doll used to sell to tourists and I actually was thinking like New Zealand ?
