This is a Vintage bell I believe was used for fishing. I was told that the bell was mounted on a fishing boat and the fishing line was attached to it.
If a fish was on the line it would pull the lever and ring the bell to let the fisherman know he has something on the line. Similar to a bicycle bell with a different set-up. There is a manufacturer name "CAPTAIN LEECH, SARASOTA, FLA."
The bell works great!
