I bought this item; knowing that it had been drilled for a lamp base and repaired (including a chip on the bottom-edge where the cord went) because it is so beautiful a little damage means less to me. I can't imagine finding a bigger (14") or better one (by Rookwood's best artist), so what's the problem? If you hold out for only the "perfect" items you will miss a lot of spectacular ones that have some minor "issues". I think collectors should look more to an items attriubutes and unique qualities, and should be a little more forgiving of minor blemishes. After all; we are all human, as are our creations. Flaws are part of the beautiful, ongoing story of life.
