I believe these are from the Vietnam Era. They are similiar to the Gyrojet pistol rounds. When fired they produce a bright red trail . They spin as they fly due to the small jet orfices that are canted. The interesting thing is that when fired they increasing in velocity as they travel. They can be found at gun shows.
