Please tell me that this Pewter by Wilcox dish was made for a banana split!!

I have a pewter dish that is baffling me. On the bottom it is marked "Pewter by Wilcox P34". I am unsure of what the piece was meant to be use for. I think it would be perfect for a banana split. My 5 yr old daughter uses it as her Barbie's bathtub. These are both perfectly reasonable uses, but I would like to know what it actually is. It is about 9 inches long and has four small feet on the bottle. Other than that, it is pretty simplistic in design. There is a mark on the top edge that I am unsure about and you can't really see it in the photos. It looks like a 2-letter monogram- P? I thought it could perhaps even be a "PW" for the maker.

Can anyone give me an idea of what this is meant to be and how old it may be. Also, anyone have any good pewter cleaning tips. Thanks!

It's a bread tray. Google "silver bread tray" and you will find sterling and silverplated items that look like it. Your's is made of pewter so it would appeal to pewter collectors.
