This Elgin pocket watch is a family heirloom that belonged to my great grandfather. My parents told me that it is a good watch and it is made of rose gold. I am curious as to the age, model and the value of the pocket watch.
The chain was taken from another pocket watch for the photograph, as it was for a photography project. I thought it would look better with a chain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

If you open and look at the clockwork on the inside of the watch, it has a serial number written on it. There is an Elgin watch collectors website that you can google, and it allows you to submit the serial number and see the exact age of your watch. After that, your best bet for appraisal is to go to a local watch shop and more often than not they will be able to give you a rough price estimate.
