These 2 beech folding chairs have been in my family since mid 1800's. I am in the process of restoring them, a long involved process. I have been told they are most likely to have been a deck chair or cabin on the ships coming out to NZ.
Finally after removing the old paint and varnish and waxing the wood to a soft finish I recovered in a Warwick animal print similar to early french style . Very pleased with the result.
