I've had this key for about three months now and I can't seem to figure out if its a real functioning key or not. I do know from research that is is a barrel key (has a hollow end). It has 925 stamped on the back, so I know it's sterling silver. It's appromately 2.5 inches in length (6.35 cm). Any greater knowledge about this key would be greatly appreciated.

That is not likely to be an actual, functioning key. More likely, it is just something of ornamental valuel. Whatever it is, it is very nice. Especially if it is Serling Silver.

Thank you, Earthling for responding to my post. This key is so shiny that it is almost blinding to look at in the sunlight. It has sentimental value to me, I wonder to whom's heart this key belongs?
