Does anyone know anything about this chair? Got it in a package deal with some other furniture in 80's. Back then, I wasn't smart enough to ask more about it. It is a very heavy chair. Any thoughts?

it's beautiful! nice proportions and heft - good for a short, fat person like me. looks like cherry or mahogany from a distance. the style appears to be Empire if it's american or Regency if european. that was popular in america from 1830 till the mid-to late 1850s, 60s in remote areas. very heavy furniture w/ large swirls, and a 'grounded weightiness' are hallmarks of empire/regency. also, black leather and horsehair seating were common, as was the use of mahogany veneers and very dark woods.
