half a helmet anyway... as they say! I always thought the "S" looked like it was upside down, but I guess that is just the style. there's a whole website (actually, two that I know) dedicated to recording every football helmet college and pro, but Stanfords have changed very little over the years so it's not all that easy to nail down. judging from pictures, it looks like it may be from 1979.

the face mask looks 60's to me but they may have used a kicker's face mask from the 70's in this case, just for adornment.
