I am curious to find some information on this sterling silver pin and earring set. I was told by a jeweller today that it is indeed silver and most likely antique. I've tried Googling the image but not sure of the appropriate name of the image on each piece. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate all of the information you provided me with. What an interesting history of where it came from.
I have the necklace,I received it as a gift from a friend in San Fran. It was given to me in the 90's haven't seen anything like it till now. Thanks for sharing!
These are usually black enamel on silver, but I have a bracelet with panels in different colors of enamel, a red, a sky blue, an orange, a yellow. It seems a bit older and more delicate than the pieces you normally see, and the colors are of wonderful shades.
